The RPQ has been designed especially to resolve the most complex contours and shaping needs needed with ribbon microphones, from controlling the range of low end proximity boominess and muddiness to the capability to provide boost and lift to the highs.

This range of flexibility is not just applicable to ribbon microphones, but is excellent for all sources. The ribbon microphone is known for a very natural sound, but along with this, most ribbon mic's become heavily laden with heavy low end as the performance becomes too close, and as it is moved further away, the reach to the room ambience is excellent, but there is a tendancy to lose more high end the further the distance to the source.

It is common to need a great deal of control over the frequencies to keep the balance as natural as the ribbon's ability to capture realism.

The RPQ therefore, is ideal for controlling low frequency proximity with a wide low cut/high pass LF band that covers a slope frequency from 18Hz to 260Hz, and high frequency boost wth a wide high shelf "curve shaper" from a slope that begins at 2.1kHz to 26kHz.
