    250EX-HI-Q1
This program provides you with the MEP 250EX High Frequencies in Bell Mode at the widest "Q" width available from the Songtec. Frequencies included are:
    8kHz, 10kHz, 12kHz, 14kHz, 16kHz, 18kHz, 20kHz, 22kHz, and 25.6kHz
These programs contain the natural harmonic distortion from the hardware.

To provide you with the full dynamic range of each setting while also providing as much fine tuning as possible and preventing unwanted added resources, from 12dB to 4dB +/- are provided in 2dB steps. From 4dB to 3dB is a 1dB step. From 3dB to 0dB is 1/2dB steps.

Due to the analog nature of this device, steps at different widths and volumes can vary a great deal. Perfectly incremental steps in movement do not result in the exact same change in volume, which is the nature of the analog device and is also true of the more expensive detented/repeatable version of the eq, making it better to have in Nebula Pro for the most predictible use possible.

    250EX-HI-Q1 CLN
This program is the same as above without any harmonic distortion. The "C" stands for "Clean" mode.

    250EX-HI-Q2
This program provides you with the MEP 250EX High Frequencies in Bell Mode at the second widest "Q" width. Frequencies included are:

About the "SONGTEC-MEP-250EX-EQ FOR NEBULA PRO"

The "SONGTEC-MEP-250EX-EQ FOR NEBULA PRO" provides you with the finest equalizer in the history of recording. It shares the same lineage as the GEQ, also available from CDS. Beginning in 1971, the origin of this eq went from a custom console eq build to outboard eq's for tracking, mixing, and mastering. The 230 series was perfected over years, going from excellent sounding but inexpensive IC op-amps to the 250EX's highest quality custom discrete op-amps. Every aspect of the design was perfected in the 250EX. There are cosmetic and concept changes in every variation from the 230's and 430's to the "P" and "S" versions. The 400 series are designed specifically around disk mastering, providing resettable labeled settings and exchanging the control pot for film so that detented settings are predictable between different units. The sound of the 250EX is the very finest they have made. Where the earliest "ITI" variation of the Songtec 230 is prefered for its bold weighty sound, the 250EX is head-to-head with the GEQ as the finest clean machine ever made.

The MEP 250EX includes the highest quality, most expensive custom op-amps, lowered distortion and noise floor, and adjusted frequency shapes and "Q" widths requested from users. The center gain is detented at 12 O'clock. The signal is ruler flat from as low as 8Hz to over 25kHz with less than 1/10th of a decibel variation.

With all the design elements in mind, there are still aspects of every variation of the Songtec line that are non-linear in nature. Specifically, the design appears to be completely tuned to 1kHz at 0dB, as there is the most linear behavior in frequency and volume for all settings and all bands at this calibration. Any shape of "Q" and frequency that is higher and lower than the center mark for every separate card and signal path in parallel has small variations. It requires testing of frequencies to get the precise pitch, making it a benefit to have smooth flowing motion (non-detented) for recording purposes, since this behavior is true for the 400 series as well. While visual setting is repeatable on the more expensive units, these settings, under analysis, are not always exactly the frequency and volume chosen. This way, the 250EX is the perfect choice for translation into truly repeatable digital settings. The volume varies differently in the small steps when cut as opposed to boost, and at the highest peaks there is greater volume in narrow "Q" than in wider "Q", as is typical with all variable width analog hardware.

There are no sonically negative aspects of this device, and there are no weaknesses in its sonic purity. That is to say, every setting on every frequency has a use and purpose and will not feel like a compromise. If it feels too clean for any given setting, weight can be added from anything from tubes to tape and other saturation. Where the user wishes to make adjustments that are hard to hear due to the transparency of the device, the 250EX is impossible to beat.

To bring this device to Nebula Pro, we chose the perfect spread of 4 "Q" widths, leaving nothing behind in its sonic qualities. We chose the following Bell frequencies are each "Q" width:
    15Hz, 30Hz, 60Hz, 82Hz, 110Hz, 140Hz, 180Hz, 280Hz, 400Hz, 500Hz, 650Hz, 800Hz, 1000Hz, 1200Hz, 1800Hz, 2400Hz, 3600Hz, 4800Hz, 5800Hz, 6800Hz, 8kHz, 10kHz, 12kHz, 14kHz, 16kHz, 18kHz, 20kHz, 22kHz, and 25.6kHz
For the High and Low shelf eq's we chose the following slope frequencies:

    15Hz, 30Hz, 60Hz, 120Hz, 240Hz, 480Hz, 620Hz, 700Hz, 400Hz, 1.6kHz, 3.2kHz, 6.4kHz, 12.8kHz, 18kHz, and 25.6kHz
